"Sun-Kissed" Glow

i'm pale. super pale. this isn't a new thing for me. i was pale before twilight made it cool. i can't even hold a tan. i just don't have pigment (or whatever it is that you need) in my skin. and honestly, i don't mind. i don't wear dark colors much, so it's not like i have to worry about looking faded out. i do have to worry about burning though, because 20 minutes outside and i'm turning crispier than a piece of bacon and more red than a strawberry tomatoe.

one thing that is difficult is finding make up to match my skin tone. the lightest shades in most brands are usually about a shade or two darker. if i want blush or bronzer, i usually end up looking like a clown with giant red patches on my cheeks. i blush easily, and often, which gives me a natural pink tint, but it doesn't last.

my point of this post is to inform you all about a wonderful product. i kid you not, it completes me. i'm in love, and not with a man. it's actually an elf. what? oh, sorry, i meant E.L.F., the Eyes Lips Face brand found at target. i would like to introduce you all the the E.L.F. All Over Color Stick. Available in 5 shades, and for only a dollar, it's the perfect match for me.

How we met: i was once again wandering the make up department in my local target, feeling hopeless about ever finding the perfect make up match for my pale, lonely skin. i headed towards the E.L.F. section, a favorite of mine because of their cheap prices and good quality (not perfect, but considering you can get most of their stuff for under $5.00, it's really good). i wasn't expecting to find anything, but a new little product in the corner caught my eye. i looked at it for a minute, then decided at $1.00, it was worth a try.

i got home and tried it out. it's perfect. amazing. i love it. it has a light citrus scent, but nothing too fancy or powerful. you rub it anywhere (i usually just do a little dab along my cheekbones, nothing fancy), maybe blend it in a bit with your fingers, and there ya go. i've used it over a light foundation, over my regular moisturizer, and on my skin alone and it still looks good. it gives me a light dose of shimmery color that looks more like a sun-kissed glow than make up. i personally am a fan of the "golden peach" (shown above), but i'd like to try "pink lemonade", with just a bit more pink than gold, next.
(NOTE: i am not doing this for anyone other than myself, and for you guys. i wish E.L.F. would shower me with make up for telling you about this, but alas, i doubt that they will)

what make up supplies are you totally loving??

Must Have Mondays!!

hi there!! this past weekend was super crazy busy and although i had an amazing time, it also left me majorly sleep deprived. i'll post later about my weekend (i didnt even take any pictures, i was having THAT much fun!!) but for now i'm going to squeeze in a quick "must have mondays post"!! :)

1. this top is so adorable.

it's one of my favorite colors and its a style i can usually pull off. plus i could dress it up or down, depending if i was frolicking off to a party, class, or hanging out with a cutie. ;)

2. this necklace
it's totally fun and sweet as well. anyone who knows me knows i love cupcakes (hello, look at my blog title!!) and this would be a treat to add onto any wardrobe. (sorry for all the cupcake jokes...haha)

3. this dress
the captian's ball will be here soon enough and of course, being a girl, i get really into the dresses. this is so sweet and it's vintage, which makes it even better. another great etsy find, of course!!

4, this print

i absolutely adore flapperdoodle. i got a few of her prints for christmas, but i wouldn't mind another one. this one would be great because i love and miss my puppies back home. granted, they aren't dalmations, but it would do.

5. this adorable little baby alpaca
okay so i know this is kinda silly but i saw this picture and just couldn't resist. i've always wanted a little baby alpaca or llama, but alas, living in a subdivision (or college dorm room) doesn't exactly make that possible. one day maybe... ;) oh, and of course i'd put it in a little jacket!!

Bubble Baths in Clawfoot Tubs

There's still a few years until I'm out in the real world and living on my own. While I'm in no hurry to have that happen, I can't wait for the day when I can decorate and design my house to my heart's content. Although I don't actually have any set plans I do like to think about what I want. And I'm sure I won't get everything that I dream about but there are a few things I'd love, one of which is a clawfoot tub.

I love everything about them. I think they are gorgeous. They add a glamorous and classy touch to any bathroom. I love the style that dates back to an earlier time. One of my favorite things to do, especially when I'm stressed, is to take a long, hot, usually bubble-filled, bath. The cat enjoys sitting with me and occassionally dipping a paw in as well. I'd get one of those little trays to put my book in as well so it doesn't get wet. (I will admit the corners occassionally get a little wet when I read in the tub. Oops!!) Here are a couple more clawfoot tubs I totally love.

So amazing...I love. <3

I love this one because of how they use all the color.

Like I said, I can deal with not having a lot of stuff in my future house but this has to be one of the major things on my wishlist. Guess my future hubby needs a good job. ;)

A Little Pick-Me-Up

The past few days have been kinda busy. I was up till 2:30am last night finishing up a paper, I still have another 8-12 page paper due Tuseday that I'm trying to finish earlier so I can skip class and head home for break early, and I have a couple of journal entries for my theater class due. On top of that I had a major fight over something stupid with someone I'm really close to. Although, I plan on blogging a little more about the people in my life and what's going on, we won't get into that because it's still being resolved, but I hate fighting with people I'm close to. Thankfully Patrick, probably one of my best friends here, was on fb to chat with me and cheer me up. Thank god for him. :)

Since I'm not one to be sad for often, I figured I'd blog about some of my favorite etsy finds that I really hope will make their way under the tree this Christmas. (As a side note, is anyone really excited for Christmas?? I can't wait!!)

I've been in love with these darling little hair clips for a while now. There's something about them that's just so darling. They'd def add a little dash of whimsy to your hair.

Whenever I'm stressed I love to just stand in a hot shower and relax for a few. This body whip looks like it'd be amazing. The seller has new scents out for Christmas as well so I can't wait to see (or smell) what else they come up with!!

Not going to lie, I'm crazy over this shop. She has all this amazing stuff I've never bought but always wanted. I love this piece in particular because I have a shiny pink, strapless dress that this would look great in. And I think CNU has something called the "Captian's Ball" in the spring. ;)

This last one I'm going to leave you with is one of my favorite fine art prints. I love spring and summer for all the fresh fruit. There's something about a bowl of fruit, especially strawberries in my opinion, sitting on the counter freshly washed just waiting for someone to come along and take a bit.

Why Girls Flock To Ballroom

Before comeing to college, I made myself some goals to make sure my freshman year was good. Stuff along the lines of get good grades, meet people, join clubs, push myself out of my comfort zone, meet guys, ect. One of the clubs I joined was the Ballroom Dancing Society, which is now my absolute favorite thing to do, and every week I look forward to it. The awesome people are a major plus as well. Before joining this club, I was nervous. I am awful at dancing, and considering how accident prone I am to begin with, this didn't seem like a great idea. However, in my mind it seemed like a perfect way knock out two of my goals in one hit: to meet guys and push myself out of my comfort zone.

A few tiny problems. As much as I love ballroom dancing, it didn't exactly match the fantasy I had in my head. You know, the fantasy most girls have entering ballroom. Dancing with that totally hot and brooding guy in the corner. Being swept across the dance floor. Finding that perfect "dance partner" both on and off the floor. And on, and on, and on. Basically a total movie moment, think Take the Lead, with Antonio Banderas. which I wish my whole life could be made up of.

A few startling truths about ballroom. More girls tend to come to ballroom than guys. That means some girls are left dancing together. I have no problem with that, it's just annoying I can't be flirting with a handsome stranger while I dance. There are some guys there, however. Which brings me to the next point...

The Boys of Ballroom. Most of the intermediate dancers are total cuties and, of course, great dancers. I've even found awesome friends in one or two of them. But sadly, there's only so many intermediate guys, so now we go to the beginners. I've basically divided the beginner guys into 2 main groups; creepers, and possibilities. Possibilities are the guys coming here looking for girls because they know girls are looking for guys. They're usually at least a little cute, polite, nice, and don't totally suck as leads. Those are the fun guys to dance with. :) Creepers, on the other hand, are just that. They usually come to ballroom having never talked to a girl, never touched a girl, barely even looked at a girl. They're the ones that hold you too close or try to grab your butt. (Excuse me sir your hand goes on my back or my knee is coming up.) Needless to say, they aren't exactly what you picture when you think of romantic ballroom dancing.

Lastly, one last thing I for some reason keep forgetting as to why ballroom isn't exactly how I pictured it. I. Can't. Dance. I have two left feet and I am crazy accident prone. It takes me 50 times to even learn a few basic moves and I've stepped on people's feet a bunch. At the moment though, I have not been dropped yet, although I've been stepped on quite a few times.

Just to be clear, I love ballroom. Creepers and swollen toes aside, it's one of the best things I have ever done in my entire life. I've already found out I love the dances like the tango, rumba, and chacha, and when I have a cute guy as my partner, my dancing gets that much better. :) There's actually a competition coming up in November that I plan on entering. I may not be the best dancer by any means but I have fun and that's what I love about it. So for now, I'll wear my closed toed shoes, ask for some "extra practice" from some of the cuter dancers, and wait for my dancing movie moment to happen.

Buy Me Monday

Hi guys!! Sorry my posting's been a little sporadic. I've been adjusting to moving into my new dorm as well as a major paper that I had to bust my butt on. :) I'm here now though, so yay for that!!

Another fun idea I've had for my blog is featuring a shop a week. I noticed a lot of blogs do their featured shops on Fridays. I decided to do mine on Monday instead. I don't like to follow the crowd, so doing this on Monday is a little different. Also, Mondays are always such a dreary, icky day so I thought this would be a fun little way to brighten people's Mondays. :) I'll be going through my favorite shops and doing a little profile on them and what some of my favorite pieces they sell are.

My first shop I'm featuring is Happy Cosmos. :)

You can find them at http://www.happycosmos.etsy.com

I simply love this shop!! :) Although I haven't bought anything yet, it's def on my list of places I wish I could purchase from. Everything is made from fleece, and they sell adorable little accessories such as keychains and messenger bags. I put 2 of my favorites underneath!!

Pancake Keychains!! My favorite is the little love one with the heart, but all 3 are totally "squee" worthy. :)

Bunny Messenger Bag!! It looks so cute and cuddly, you just want to hold it all day long. :)

So those are only 2 of my favorite things they sell but they have tons of other cute stuff that you should totally check out!!
