My Secret Fantasy

I'm a romantic. Not just a little bit, mind you. I'm a totally crazy wild totally hopelessy hopeless romantic. I love chick flicks like it's my job and I get more excited to hear cute couple stories than teenage girls get when they see Justin Bieber. And yes, I am currently single but I know it'll happen one day. No worries here. :) (not many, anyway.) ;) Being a crazy over-the-top romantic and a girl, I daydream sometimes. I love to hear those romantic moments of declarations of love and of course it makes me want that for myself. My mind usually ends up wandering and I think of a few more scenarios I'd love as well.

Secret fantasy confession time: One thing I would love to have happen to me one day is to be serenaded. Music is really important to me and certian songs really affect me, all in different ways. I'm in a big believer in the idea that music can say things words can't always say and I think that when people have music then they have a special connection. Hence why I think being serenaded would be amazing.

If it were to happen I'd be super happy to begin with, but there are ways it could be even more amazing. If the guy himself were to serenade me, I really hope he can sing. I know it's supposed to be "the thought that counts" but if the guy singing can't really sing I'm not sure how great it'll be. In the case he can't sing, asking one of the many vocal groups (preferrably Expansion, as I love them and they are amazing) to serenade me for him would suffice. I've heard of guys asking vocal groups at other colleges to serenade their girls and it sounds so sweet.

The other big thing is the song choice. The song would, of course, have meaning. And a great, sweet, perfect, romantic, (blah, blah, blah), one at that. Personally, I love the idea of being serenaded with the male version of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream", Lifehouse's "You and Me", or basically anything by Michael Buble.

It may be silly but the idea of a guy who's totally crazy over me singing a song I'm totally crazy for just for me makes me want to swoon. I warned you in the beginning I'm a silly, crazy romantic, and a teenage girl to boot. I'm not saying that's the only thing I'll stand for, I mean, a mix CD will do just fine, but if a girl can dare to dream then this is what I'd love. Until then I'll just keep an eye out for a guy to steal my heart, a boy with a voice, and the sound of Darren Criss singing "Teenage Dream" through my speakers.

My List of 19 Things

I turn 19 in a little over 4 months. It's not a big deal really, I'm enjoying life as it comes and trying to take it slow for the most part. However, as much as I am happy to let life pass as slowly as possible so that I can drink in every second of it, there are sooo many things I would like to accomplish. I hate the idea of making a bucket list. It freaks me out way too much. Therefore, I have decided to start out small and make a list of "19 Things to Accomplish Before I Turn 19". They will be some of the random things I want to do, ranging from small to big. Because I only have about 4 and a half months, and limited money, they will be on the smaller side, but important none the less.

I'm hoping to have an official list done by Friday (but depending on my class workload we'll see...) and although I will be announcing it here, I plan on also making a separate page so that we can all track my progress.

At the moment, I only have a few ideas to put on the list. One of the major ones is to get my ears pierced. I know, most girls got their ears pierced long ago but not me, hence why it's going on the list. Another goal is to make honest to God spatzle. I love the stuff and want to try making it myself for once. I'm still working on a few more ideas, but I'd love some help. I'm not promising to use every suggestion you guys give me, but I'd love to hear your ideas!!

Creativity Must be a Family Trait

A few weeks ago over fall break my mom asked me to take some pictures of her pottery. I was happy to do it. She's been taking pottery classes for over a year now, and she's started to get really good. I love how every time she finishes a new piece she brings it home for me to see and critique. Of course, I always tell her I love it and usually ask to keep a piece. It's cool that we have something in common to talk about. We both love arty stuff like that and both support each other in everything we create. These are a few of my favorite pieces of hers. Enojy!!

This is one of my favorite pieces. I use this bowl at craft shows to put my business cards in.

This is a soap dish we use.
This is a bowl that sits on the kitchen table that we put sugar packets in.

These are 2 bowls she made to put a plant in. I love being able to tell people she made the stuff they see around the house.
On the left is a little bowl we use for sugar packets on the kitchen table. It looks so pretty when the light hits it. On the right is a bowl and shallower bowl she put a plant in. I love how I can tell people she made the items they're looking at when they're in our house.

Why Girls Flock To Ballroom

Before comeing to college, I made myself some goals to make sure my freshman year was good. Stuff along the lines of get good grades, meet people, join clubs, push myself out of my comfort zone, meet guys, ect. One of the clubs I joined was the Ballroom Dancing Society, which is now my absolute favorite thing to do, and every week I look forward to it. The awesome people are a major plus as well. Before joining this club, I was nervous. I am awful at dancing, and considering how accident prone I am to begin with, this didn't seem like a great idea. However, in my mind it seemed like a perfect way knock out two of my goals in one hit: to meet guys and push myself out of my comfort zone.

A few tiny problems. As much as I love ballroom dancing, it didn't exactly match the fantasy I had in my head. You know, the fantasy most girls have entering ballroom. Dancing with that totally hot and brooding guy in the corner. Being swept across the dance floor. Finding that perfect "dance partner" both on and off the floor. And on, and on, and on. Basically a total movie moment, think Take the Lead, with Antonio Banderas. which I wish my whole life could be made up of.

A few startling truths about ballroom. More girls tend to come to ballroom than guys. That means some girls are left dancing together. I have no problem with that, it's just annoying I can't be flirting with a handsome stranger while I dance. There are some guys there, however. Which brings me to the next point...

The Boys of Ballroom. Most of the intermediate dancers are total cuties and, of course, great dancers. I've even found awesome friends in one or two of them. But sadly, there's only so many intermediate guys, so now we go to the beginners. I've basically divided the beginner guys into 2 main groups; creepers, and possibilities. Possibilities are the guys coming here looking for girls because they know girls are looking for guys. They're usually at least a little cute, polite, nice, and don't totally suck as leads. Those are the fun guys to dance with. :) Creepers, on the other hand, are just that. They usually come to ballroom having never talked to a girl, never touched a girl, barely even looked at a girl. They're the ones that hold you too close or try to grab your butt. (Excuse me sir your hand goes on my back or my knee is coming up.) Needless to say, they aren't exactly what you picture when you think of romantic ballroom dancing.

Lastly, one last thing I for some reason keep forgetting as to why ballroom isn't exactly how I pictured it. I. Can't. Dance. I have two left feet and I am crazy accident prone. It takes me 50 times to even learn a few basic moves and I've stepped on people's feet a bunch. At the moment though, I have not been dropped yet, although I've been stepped on quite a few times.

Just to be clear, I love ballroom. Creepers and swollen toes aside, it's one of the best things I have ever done in my entire life. I've already found out I love the dances like the tango, rumba, and chacha, and when I have a cute guy as my partner, my dancing gets that much better. :) There's actually a competition coming up in November that I plan on entering. I may not be the best dancer by any means but I have fun and that's what I love about it. So for now, I'll wear my closed toed shoes, ask for some "extra practice" from some of the cuter dancers, and wait for my dancing movie moment to happen.

Buy Me Monday

Hi guys!! Sorry my posting's been a little sporadic. I've been adjusting to moving into my new dorm as well as a major paper that I had to bust my butt on. :) I'm here now though, so yay for that!!

Another fun idea I've had for my blog is featuring a shop a week. I noticed a lot of blogs do their featured shops on Fridays. I decided to do mine on Monday instead. I don't like to follow the crowd, so doing this on Monday is a little different. Also, Mondays are always such a dreary, icky day so I thought this would be a fun little way to brighten people's Mondays. :) I'll be going through my favorite shops and doing a little profile on them and what some of my favorite pieces they sell are.

My first shop I'm featuring is Happy Cosmos. :)

You can find them at http://www.happycosmos.etsy.com

I simply love this shop!! :) Although I haven't bought anything yet, it's def on my list of places I wish I could purchase from. Everything is made from fleece, and they sell adorable little accessories such as keychains and messenger bags. I put 2 of my favorites underneath!!

Pancake Keychains!! My favorite is the little love one with the heart, but all 3 are totally "squee" worthy. :)

Bunny Messenger Bag!! It looks so cute and cuddly, you just want to hold it all day long. :)

So those are only 2 of my favorite things they sell but they have tons of other cute stuff that you should totally check out!!

I'm All Moved In!!

I'm not going to be posting for very long today. It's been crazy busy. I got all moved in yesterday. In the span of a few hours I signed all the paperwork, got a new card, packed, and moved. I'm in an all sophomore dorm, but it's all good. I even have a friend from my history class who is in my hall and he's super cool. (And to anwser the question you're probably thinking, I'm pretty sure he's gay so no possible romance here. Hahaha) My new living space is better. It's a 4 person suite, 2 people to each room although we're still waiting for one more roommate. We have a bathroom and a little living room as well. I'm hoping I can bring my TV soon. :)

My roommate and suitemate seem nice. I haven't talked much to either of them; one seems to always be going out and the other seems to always be in her room with the door closed. I'm okay with that though. As long as we aren't getting along badly, I will not complain.

I'm just so glad everything worked out. Like I said in a previous post, now I can focus on things getting betting and continuing to move forward. Hopefully I can post some pictures of my new room and living space soon for you guys but my roommate was asleep before and I didn't want to wake her up.

And just as a little sneak peek, I can't wait to tell you about some of the fun things that are happening. Cute boys, dancing competitions, and all that fun stuff. ;)

Looking on the Bright Side

I haven't blogged in a few days. Bad me. I've been a little stressed out, to say the least. I'll give you a quick rundown as to why I've been so upset, then I'm going to write about some happier things.

Long Story Short...

I thought my roommate issues were okay, until we had a little fight about keeping the sink clean on Wednesday. That opened the door to a whole other side of my roommate. We resolved it mostly, but things were still a little tense. On Friday we got a letter for one of us to leave and my roommates baiscally told me they expect me to move outbc they want more space. Then my mom and I, who are very close, started having some issues as well. Trying to get out a little, on Saturday I went to williamsburg with 2 friends and had a GREAT day. We had so much fun shopping (on a college budget, but still) and laughing. Once we got back to campus, the roommates were being evil yet again and all I wanted was to talk to my mom but I couldn't bc we were both upset with each other. I was really sad that night and spent it all alone in my room.

This morning I woke up feeling MUCH better. I met the person I am supposed to room with. She seems nice, but I just don't think it will be a great match... However, I am not living with my current situation because the people i live with now have shown me just how hurtful and low class they can be. I finally called my mom :) and she helped me decide that tomorrow I am walking over to housing and asking to be placed elsewhere.

Its been a little tough but I'm going to trust that this is all happening for a reason and it will work out how it is supposed to. I'm not the type of person to be sad and down for long, so I am going to point out some of the positives.

I've only been at college for about a month, and am slowly starting to make friends. The fact that I had people who wanted to know why I was sad, if they could help, and how I was doing showed me that there are some people here I do like and get along with that have the potential to be great friends. Two girls (one a close friend from HS, another we recently met) took a walk around campus with me in our bare feet at one AM. Aside from a few scary bugs we had fun running through the wet grass and laughing at the weird people still awake.

My one roommate has barely been in the room. I guess she's trying to show me how much she doesn't want me here. That makes me a little sad bc I enjoyed laughing with her before but I've used all my free alone time today to recopy my math notes, read for english, organize my desk, wash my huge pile of dishes, and eat really crunchy food without worrying about bothering her.

I can only think of one more good thing, but at least I found 3 good things out of this. The last one is that as I've mentioned before, I was looking at being here as my fresh start from all the crap I dealt with during my senior year. I still am. This little thing will pass and things will continue going well. :) However, I had somehow gotten it in my head that since this was my fresh start nothing bad would happen because I was here. I think I needed to realize there are still going to be problems in my life. I'm still dealing with what happened senior year. That doesn't mean that good things can't happen. I can still be positive, happy, bubbly, and optimistic. I can still keep moving forward and enjoy things. I just have to learn to roll with the punches and know there will be amazing people (like my mom) in my life to be there for me.

We're Not Too Old #1- Fun Band Aids

As promised, I've been thinking up funny ideas for blog topics. This one I have for today is probably one of the things I am most excited about. Do you all remember how much fun it was when you were a little kid?? I mean, sometimes I feel like I still am but that's not exactly what I'm talking about. I'm talking about how when you were little and you could do all that silly or goofy stuff and it was considered cute or funny. Now that we're older, so many people think that we can't do that stuff, or if we do, we're immature.

I'm here to say that I am 18 years old, a college freshman, and I have no plans to stop doing some of the things I loved when I was a little kid. I'm going to be posting every so often about something I or my friends did when we were little and still do now. The first thing?? Fun band aids!!

(These are the band aids I currently have). :)

I'm sure we all remember getting hurt when you were little. Even the tiniest little cut required tons of tears, breaking out the first aid kit, lots of hugs and kisses from mom (or dad), and of course, an awesome band aid. A few of the kids I used to babysit asked for band aids even when they we're bleeding. Frankly, with so many styles and colors nowadays, band aids are kinda fun, like a mini fashion accessory.

Being super accident prone, a trait that is still with me as I navigate the crazyiness of college, and a bit of a drama queen, I have gone through tons of band aids. I am so glad they have so many different styles now. Personally, I have tried neon ones, groovy ones, rainforest ones, animal one, hello kitty ones, and more. My favorite though, are my Littlest Pet Shop. Every time they go on sale ($1.89 at target) I get a few boxes and usually by the next time they're on sale, I need more.

(I even had to use one today after wearing new shoes that are starting to give me a blister.)

And in case you're sitting here laughing at me, I'm going to point out I'm not the only one. A quick convo with some of my fellow college freshman reveal that many of them have Spiderman, Disney Princess, and Finding Nemo band aids in their first aid kits too. So, the next time you or someone around you gets hurt, don't reach for a plain old boring one. Pick up something cute, and wear it with pride.

Hope you guys liked the first topic in my "We're not too old" category. I have a few more up my sleeve, but if there's something you want to suggest, feel free to leave me a comment. :)

Rainy Days

I haven't gotten anything done today. I did get up at 9:30 to go to our Hall Council "Retreat" briefly, but I was back by noon and we didn't really do enough to make me feel accomplished yet. The original plan was to go shopping with a few girlfriends, one of which just got her car on Sunday so we wouldn't have to take the bus, but that plan kinda fell through. I think we're going next week. Pray those dresses at Dillards are still 70% off or there will be some majorly pissed off girls next Saturday.

With shopping no longer a possibility, I returned to my dorm room and turned on my laptop. I figured I'd spend a few minutes on my laptop then start getting ahead on my reading. But as any facebook user knows, if you get on facebook for a "few minutes" you never actually are on it for a "few minutes." Next thing I know it's an hour later and I am in no hurry to get up. I was wrapped in my fuzzy pink blanket (Target :) ) and was all comfy on my bed. Perfect time for a nap!! This time, I was like "Oh, I'll take a quick nap, then wake up and do some homework for real." Not. So. Fast. I wake up about and hour and a half later, laptop still on my lap, still nice and warm and comfy. I still haven't gotten anything done today. I'm going to dinner in a little bit with friends but something tells me that won't lead to any homework either.

But for the record, this whole "lack of productivity" is not my fault. Do you want to know whos fault this is??

The Rain

I knew it was coming last night. The sky was dark and cloudy and the trees were shaking in the wind. I figured it would blow over and be nice by today, but not so much. I woke up to a full day of solid rain. Rainy days just have a talent for making people not want to do anything. They make you want to curl up inside under a cozy blanket, drink a warm drink, and sleep, read a book, watch a movie, anything warm. They do not inspire the intense need to go outside and jump in puddles, no matter how much fun it may be. The only reason people are usually outside during rainy days is because they have to be. And even if it does give me (and other people) a reason to wear your adorable college sweatshirts (Go Captains!!), cute rainboots, or fun umbrellas, it is still not worth having to walk around.

So, in all honesty, I wanted to get some work done today.
...Well, I tried to get some work done today.

...Okay, fine, I briefly contemplated getting work done today but decided against it. Rainy days just aren't meant for that type of thing. Now though, I have to go walk all across campus to get dinner so I think I'll put on my cute rainboots, grab my adorable umbrella, and go jump in a puddle.

A Fresh New Start

I started college just a few short weeks ago, but it already feels like it's been forever. I love that. I am enjoying my classes for the most part, and getting super involved. (Like, i'm already in 5 clubs with a full courseload) type involved. AND I am meeting people and making friends. I love it though. :)

I'm really looking at college as a fresh new start. My senior year was filled with a lot of hurt, pain, mistrust, and lots of other awful stuff. Although it's still going to take me awhile to really heal and move on, coming here is the beginning. I think and hope that it'll be just what I need.

This blog has undergone a few changes. I finally think the layout is what I want, and am pretty happy with my "cute as a cupcake" color scheme. :) I have so many plans for this blog as well. It's my place to share what's going on in my life as far as school, friends, college, and of course, guys are concerned. But I also have tons of ideas for crafy cutiebug related items that I can't wait to share as I get more followers. I'm thinking giveaways, featured shops, blah, blah, blah. And of course, I won't be holding myself to just what I mentioned above. I'm a free spirit and I'll write what I wanna write. Take that!! :)

For now, I'll be going. Already I think my weekend is off to a great start. Woke up to sales on etsy, my classes weren't too horrible, and I had an AMAZING evening with some people I already really like. But now it's time for bed, and hopefully sweet dreams at that. :)
