I got in!!

Senior year. Everyone knows that means college touring, college applying, college discussing, and lots, and lots, and lots, of waiting. Thankfully though, most seniors find out at the beginning of April, some a little earlier if they're lucky, if they're in or not.

Sadly, for me this was not the case.

My top choice, CNU (Christopher Newport University) waitlisted me. Most colleges try to tell you within a month. About six agonizing weeks later, I finally hear from CNU. They wanted me for spring of 2011, but not fall. I was upset; I wanted to start with the rest of the freshman, but it was better than nothing. My family and I had begin making alternative plans for the fall.

Then came the letter.

I got home this past Friday at around 4:30, only to find a letter from CNU waiting for me. I read it and was instantly confused. They claimed I had not attended the mandatory orientation required for all freshman. Oh yeah, and because they were assuming I had choosen another college to go to, my account was now inactive. By this time, there was major freaking out going on.

A phone call to the admissions office gave me a few anwsers. An incredibly kind admissions counselor told me that my file said an acceptance leter was sent out June 28th. I never got that letter. I was hoping I was still in, but after that letter I wasn't sure. The admissions officer told me that she would leave a note for the top dog over there and he would contact me Monday.

Enter on agonizingly looooooooong weekend.

This morning, Monday, I was woken up by Mom and the animals. No, no phone call yet. That was about ten. By one, still no call and I was getting worried. My dad told me I shouldn't worry, that Mondays are busy but still, I worried. Finally, I called. Left a message. Hung out around the house. Called the first admissions officer. She said she had passed my file on, and that he had to get approval to reinstate my acceptance. Hung up with her. Waited some more. I finally decided that I was going to go crazy waiting so I decide to go to JoAnn's. Literally, as I am pulling out of the driveway, I get a phone call. Blah, blah, apology, main point of the phone call?? They are honoring my acceptance to CNU and he will mail my acceptance letter tomorrow.

The rest of the afternoon was spent happily jumping around the hallway, a trip to JoAnns where my favorite items were 40% off, calling (and texting) friends and family to tell them the good news, and going out to dinner to celebrate.

Tomorrow will be filled with calling other universities to inform them I will not be attending and getting housing and all that fun stuff set. But for now, I'm just going to be excited that I'm going to an awesome school in the fall and watch the newest episode of the Bachelorette.
